thats complicated as hell, im still trying to read it

also where did you get the volume controls, how do you run the wire to the t-amps etc.

Yeah- its a little tricky.
Let me know if you have any questions or things that I can clairify…Its easy for me to rattle this stuff off but it may not be clear to anyone else.

For the volume controls I prefer smarthome.com and specifically these:

Those are for driving more than one set of speakers off the same amplifier.
This is a basic control:

It’s not really all that hard. Question is though, wouldn’t it be easier if you simple ran speaker wire than spending all that money on those Airport express and T-amps?
Thanks for the thoughts

Just a reminder to check out the current version of this at: http://www.archatechs.com/blog/files/wholehouseaudio.html

I think its a question of what you want to do. If you want to play the same music in every room, then running the wire and using an approprate amp does work. That being said, if you are traversing floors or a lot of stud walls it gets tricky. Also, you have to have an amp that can drive that many speakers.

The idea behind the airport expresses and T-amps is to replicate something like the Sonos system, where you can play different things in different locations at the same time.

Hey,

You guys ROCK! And if you ever need drum software look me up (www.drumcore.com). I’ve got the old, slow Mac in the basement w/iTunes with an AirPort (try one to se if it works) and am trying to sort out the nodes and you guys are really helping to navigate the “buy lotsa stuff that still won’t work” waters of techdum.

So can you elaborate on why you don’t use the airports in WIFI mode? I really want a wireless house. I’m pretty bummed about the state of wireless speakers at the moment. Can’t someone just do an AirPort without all the USB/Ethernet/etc. and just have a receiver that plugs into the back of a powered speaker.

Thanks Again,

Hey Kord-
Just a reminder, check out the new site at http://www.archatechs.com

As for the drum software, thats just what this fledgling bass player needs, thanks!

Hope you don’t mind, but by way of shameless plug, I’ve addressed your question over at the new site in the forums:

anyone know of any way to setup the airport express in multiples to a multizone amplifier for streaming different songs to different rooms simultaneously? Is it possible to wire the express directly into a multi-zone amp eliminating using a pre-amp….signal sensing?? There are manufacturers out there that have product capable of doing these things, but its all proprietary and still needs the use of a touchpanel to activate the zone prior to controlling the selected song via itunes…is anyone familiar with a piece that will allow multiple airport express units to plug into the back of it to do multi-zone music streaming is the question…???

what type do you use and how do you wire a separate wall mounted volume control to a Bose SA-1 amplifier with the 3.5 mil stereo plug
